King Pu-tsung

King Pu-tsung (Chinese: 金溥聰, Pinyin: Jīn Pǔcōng; born August 30, 1956 in Tainan City, Taiwan) is a Taiwanese politician and is widely regarded as the most important aide to Ma Ying-jeou. He served as the Secretary-General of Kuomintang (KMT) from December 2009 to January 2011.[1] King also served as Vice Mayor of Taipei[2] from 2002–2006 and had previously been a scholar[3] and journalist.

King earned his bachelor's degree in journalism from Taiwan's National Chengchi University, then studied abroad to earn a master's degree in mass communications from Texas Tech University and a Ph.D. in journalism from the University of Texas, Austin.[4] An ethnic Manchu, King is a cousin of the last Qing emperor Puyi. His surname King is a sinified adoption of the Qing imperial clan name Aisin Gioro.

As Secretary-General, King pledged to sort out financial questions of national funds that had been mixed with party assests,[5] and urged party members to provide more than "lip service" to support party candidates in the run up to the mayoral elections at the end of 2010.[6]
